From a Harrison Ford Film to a Lifetime of Helping People Heal

Dr. Ryan's path to chiropractic started, of all places, in a high school movie theater. From a young age he knew one thing with certainty: he wanted to help people. What form that would take, he wasn't yet sure — until he watched Regarding Henry. The 1991 drama stars Harrison Ford as a successful New York attorney who survives a shooting and must relearn basic speech and movement through rehabilitation. "I instantly connected with the physical therapist in that film," Dr. Ryan recalls. "Before that movie, I had no specific direction for how I'd help people. Afterward, I knew exactly what I wanted to do." The seed of a career was planted.

In his junior year of college, everything changed. His grandmother, Anna, developed severe left arm pain with pins and needles — so bad she couldn't lift her arm without agony. An orthopedic specialist told her she'd need surgery. Given that she had already undergone a spinal fusion from a prior car accident, surgery was the last thing she wanted.

A family member suggested she try chiropractic. Within a few short months, Anna was moving her arm freely — completely pain and tingling free. She went back to her orthopedist, waving her arm triumphantly: "I didn't need surgery!"

Dr. Ryan never saw his grandmother receive a single adjustment. He only saw the results. That was enough. He started researching chiropractic school and discovered that his academic path at Gordon College — where he was studying Movement Science — lined up perfectly with the prerequisites. Even better, he'd be able to do everything he had learned in physical therapy, and a whole lot more.

He enrolled at the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL, earned a second bachelor's degree in Human Biology along the way, and graduated with his Doctorate of Chiropractic in December 2002. He has been helping patients heal ever since — 23 years and counting.

Three Degrees. Two Decades of Continuing Education.

Dr. Ryan holds more academic credentials than most chiropractors — and keeps adding to them every year through health and nutrition seminars.

BS in Movement Science
Gordon College

A deep foundation in how the human body moves — biomechanics, anatomy, and physiology — that underpins every patient evaluation Dr. Ryan performs today.

BS in Human Biology
National University of Health Sciences

Earned concurrently with his Doctorate, this degree deepened Dr. Ryan's understanding of physiology, cellular biology, and the science behind how the body heals.

Doctor of Chiropractic
NUHS · Lombard, IL · December 2002

A rigorous 4-year doctoral program covering spinal biomechanics, neurology, radiology, diagnosis, and clinical practice — graduating Dr. Ryan as a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic in Massachusetts.

Webster Technique
Trained 2005

A gentle chiropractic technique designed for pregnant patients — assessing and adjusting the sacrum and uterine ligaments to support optimal fetal positioning. Dr. Ryan learned this technique in 2005, just before his son was born. Two weeks before delivery, his son was breech. In two treatments using the Webster Technique, he flipped — avoiding a C-section entirely.

Ulan Nutrition Response Testing
Level 1 Practitioner · Since 2009

A non-invasive system of whole-body nutritional analysis that identifies exactly what the body needs — no guesswork. Dr. Ryan has been a trained NRT practitioner for over 15 years.

Annual Continuing Education
Health & Nutrition Focus

Dr. Ryan attends health and nutrition seminars every year to stay current. He also has extensive training in prenatal and postnatal care for both mothers and infants, and is skilled in Foot Levelers custom orthotic fitting.

Remove the Interference. Let the Body Heal.

Dr. Ryan's philosophy starts with a profound respect for the body's innate intelligence. The body has the ability to heal itself. It doesn't need to be fixed from the outside — it needs the interference removed so it can do what it was designed to do.

In today's world, that interference comes from everywhere: screen time, poor posture, processed food sources, water quality, air quality, and the chronic stress of modern life. These forces quietly accumulate, taxing the nervous system and disrupting the body's ability to communicate with itself.

At Ryan Chiropractic Wellness, care is never just about treating where it hurts. Every visit includes a clear explanation of what is being treated and why — because an informed patient is an empowered patient. Dr. Ryan believes understanding your own body is the first step toward lasting health.

That includes understanding the language of chiropractic itself. Many patients are intimidated by clinical terms — so Dr. Ryan breaks them down into something meaningful.

It's also worth saying clearly: Dr. Ryan believes there is a time and place for traditional medicine. Chiropractic is not a replacement for emergency care, surgery when it's truly needed, or medications that save lives. What he advocates for is a collaborative approach to health — one where the body's own healing ability is supported first, and conventional medicine is there when it's genuinely the right tool. The goal has never been to be anti-medicine. It's to be pro-body.

What Is a Subluxation?

Sub—
"Less" Like subtraction — a reduction of something

—lux—
"Light" or "Energy" The vital communication flowing through your nervous system

—ation
"The cause of" The condition or state that produces an effect
A subluxation literally means: "The cause of less energy." It interferes with your body's ability to communicate between the nervous system and the rest of your body. Remove the subluxation, and your body communicates — and heals — better.

Ryan Chiropractic Wellness has grown, moved, and evolved — but its commitment to Georgetown families has never wavered.

October 2005
New Life Chiropractic & Wellness Opens

The practice opens its doors at 65 Central Street, above CVS in Georgetown. Dr. Ryan — who had purchased his first home in Georgetown just the year before — begins building relationships with local families.

2008
Renamed Ryan Chiropractic Wellness

To avoid confusion with a nearby practice also named New Life Chiropractic, the practice is rebranded. A new name — and a stronger identity rooted in the doctor behind the care.

March 2017
A Fire Forces a Move

After 12 years at 65 Central Street, a fire forces the practice to relocate. For one year, Dr. Ryan shares space at the front of 66 East Main Street alongside Family Care Associates and Massage Experts — two other businesses displaced by the same fire.

2018 — Present
Current Home: 66 East Main Street, Suite H

The practice settles into its current private suite at the back of the 66 East Main Street building — warm, accessible, with ample parking. In the same building as Dunkin' Donuts. (The coffee is close. The parking is easy. Patients love it.)

Taunton
South Shore Expansion — Taunton, MA

To better serve patients on the South Shore, a second location opens at 152 Dean Street, Building 2 in Taunton — bringing the same personalized care to a new community.

"Dr. Ryan bought his first home in Georgetown in 2004 — the very home his front desk manager Michelle grew up in as a child. The world truly is small."
