July 2026 • Week 2 — The 33 Principles of Chiropractic
How the Signal Gets Through
Last week, we started with the idea that an organizing intelligence runs through your body — the reason a cut heals and a heartbeat keeps time without you managing it. That is the "why." This week is the "how."
Principles 9 through 16 shift from intelligence itself to the thing intelligence creates: force. Force is the messenger. It is what carries the plan from your brain and nervous system out into the rest of you — muscle, organ, tissue, all of it. And, importantly, this set of principles is where we start talking about what happens when that message does not get through cleanly.
Why This Matters to You
This is the section of the 33 Principles that connects the philosophy to the hands-on part of your care. If intelligence is the plan, force is the delivery system — and a delivery system can be interfered with. That single idea is the thread running under everything a chiropractor does: find where the signal is being interrupted, and clear the path.
Here are principles 9 through 16 — the ones that take us from "the body has a plan" to "the plan has to actually reach where it's going."
Principles 9 through 16: Force and Its Path
9. The Amount of Force Created by Intelligence
Your body's intelligence always produces exactly the force needed — 100% of it, every time. Nothing is held back.
10. The Function of Force
Force is the go-between. Its job is to connect intelligence and matter — to turn the plan into something physical actually happening in your body.
11. The Character of Universal Forces
These forces work the same way for everyone, everywhere. They follow the same physical laws, without exception and without playing favorites for any one person's particular circumstances.
12. Interference with Transmission of Universal Forces
Here is the hinge point of the whole set: that signal can be interfered with. Something can get in the way between the plan and the part of the body meant to carry it out.
13. The Function of Matter
Matter's job, in turn, is to express that force — to actually do the visible, physical work the signal is telling it to do.
14. Universal Life
Force shows up as motion. Since all matter has motion in some form, that force — that life — is present in matter everywhere, not just in living things.
15. No Motion without the Effort of Force
Nothing moves on its own. Every bit of motion in matter traces back to force being applied by intelligence.
16. Intelligence in Both Organic and Inorganic Matter
This universal intelligence gives force to living and non-living matter alike — though, as we will see next month, living things put that force to a much more specific use.
The Thread to Follow
If there is one idea to carry from this set, it is Principle 12: interference is possible. The plan can be perfect and the delivery can still be interrupted. That is the whole reason chiropractic exists as a practice and not just a philosophy — the work is finding where that interference is happening and removing it, so the signal your body is already trying to send can get where it needs to go.
This is the piece that ties directly back to what happens on the table. If you have ever wondered why an adjustment focuses on a specific area rather than "fixing pain" in general, this is the answer — we are working to clear a path, not just quiet a symptom. Questions are always welcome at your next visit. Call us or book online below.
Next Week
Week 3 picks up at Principle 17 and moves into the biological principles — what makes something alive, and how your body's own intelligence keeps it that way.
